Washoe Meadows Community

The California Department of State Parks wants to restore the Upper Truckee River through the Lake Tahoe Golf Course, a state recreation area.  That’s the good news.  Because of past abuses, this stretch of the river is a contributor of fine sediment and nutrients to Lake Tahoe, decreasing the lake’s clarity.

The bad news is they want to move several holes of the golf course into the adjacent Washoe Meadows State Park.  (See the map page.)

Anyone who cares about the Park is encouraged to participate in the design and results of this project.

The Washoe Meadows Community believes the river can be restored, the park can be preserved, and golf can continue in the state recreation area on the east side of the river.  We are:

ØIdentifying like-minded people who use the Washoe Meadows State Park for “dispersed recreation”

ØHelping the Parks Department find a win/win/win outcome.
